Literacy Rotation Writting

In the senior block yr 7 - 8 student’s now have a literacy a rotation in the mornings. All classes in the senior area participate, we got shared a survey on the first thing we wanted to do, only a minimum amount of people are allowed in a group. The choices are: Kowhaiwhai (Maori Art), Movie making, Silent sustained writing and literacy.

For the first week around I chose Kowhaiwhai with Miss Tito. Miss Tito shared a few tips with us, she told us to keep our hands relaxed free our minds, instead of thinking about what It’ll look like, just let your hands do it. We practised by drawing Korus (Maori Pattern) and simply filling a page full of them. After all that practise we moved onto the real hard bits and that was drawing a simple pattern and cutting them out. Then came Kowhaiwhai our next rotation with Miss Tito a few students will get picked and will do their design on wood, which will be displayed in our senio area.

My second rotation I’ve participated in was with Miss Langitupu and that is silent sustained writing. We had to write a fiction narrative starting off with ‘It was It was a cold, dark, gloomy night. I stumbled upon an abandoned hut deep in the heart of the forest....’ I finished an interesting narrative on that, you can read it on my blog.

The last rotation I participated in so far was with Mrs Nua with her we do literacy. I learned alot from this group I learned new vocabulary. Did you know the way our food is being processed is putting our air endangered with pollutions? All the gas from the greenhouses causes global warming increasing.

I’ve enjoyed the rotations I have participated in this week and the previous week. It’s a fun and more interesting way of starting the day every morning! We’re gaining confidence and practise for college coming up! Starting school at 8:30am every morning really does motivate us for college and also doing fun learning in rotations is really cool!

Something Strange In The Hut.

It was a cold, dark, gloomy night. I stumbled upon an abandoned hut deep in the heart of the forest. I was just about to enter the hut, when suddenly I heard a disturbing noise coming from the hut, it was almost as if there were a strange animal trapped.

The noise was very loud, I couldn't describe what I was hearing, at first I thought I was hallucinating, a few days without water that had to explain it! Both windows on the hut were smashed with wood nailed over it to cover the smashed window, the door was padlocked, it definitely looked like someone was trying their very hardest to hide something!

I crept closer the noise grew louder. I walked around to the back, someone had just left and forgot to lock the door. As I walked in that strange noise disappeared. I searched the hut, There was one room I was afraid of walking into. It was very dark and foggy in that one particular room. I squinted my eyes, and I could see something which looked like a horse with a cone on its head, I thought for a minute it was a Unicorn!

I walked out, and what believed it was the Unicorn followed me. It was white, with a colourful sparkling cone on its head it shined bright in the sun. I touched it, for that moment I felt like it was real, then someone started yelling from far behind “Thats mine, bring it back here” the unicorn had a very worried look on its face.

I jumped on its back and he ran really fast, ahead a rainbow appeared he started galloping over the rainbow, we had finally escaped from that crazy man, I called him Rainbow Unicorn, in that moment.... I woke up, In my bedroom. It was all just a dream.
